Winds Cause Outages
17:30 - 01/20/10 - Ameren Illinois
As the winds have increased late this afternoon, so have the scattered outages throughout the Ameren Illinois Utilities’ service territory. The northern part of the state is currently experiencing the greatest number of customers out of service, due mostly to galloping conductors. Among the primary counties impacted at this point are Knox, Mercer, and Woodford. In total, approximately 10,000 customers across the entire AIU service territory are out of service at this time. Electric personnel are being dispatched as these weather-related outages have been reported and are working to make the appropriate repairs. According to the National Weather Service, continued scattered light freezing rain and drizzle along and north of I-74 is expected over night.
