Ameren Illinois Encourages You To Make Safefy First

The National Weather Service has expanded the Flash Flood Watch and Flood Watch to include all but the far northwest corner of the State of Illinois. Local operating centers are monitoring water levels and are prepared to take action when necessary.

Your safety is the most important issue. Do not attempt to drive across flooded roadways. Depending on the current and other factors, some vehicles may begin to be moved by the water in as few as two inches of water. Be especially cautious after dark. Most importantly, never enter a flooded basement or other flooded areas where water may be in contact with electrical wiring, appliances or other electrical devices and contact your Ameren utility company to have the power turned off when flood waters are likely to reach the main electrical panel box.
