EOC activated to coordinate a statewide response to a severe winter storm
At 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, the Ameren Illinois Utilities activated the Emergency
Operations Center (EOC) to coordinate a statewide response to a severe winter storm
that impacted significant portions of the Ameren Illinois Utilities' service territory.
Most outages occured in Central Illinois.
After multiple storms, the Ameren Illinois Utilities restored power to over 140,000
customers. The numbers behind the numbers:
- 100,000 calls handled over five days
- 1,480 field personnel deployed
- Four storm trailers deployed
- 43,000 gallons of fuel used
- 13,241 meals distributed to field personnel
- 1,497 hotel rooms used
At 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 23, the EOC stood down from full activation as local operation centers continued restoration efforts.
