Restoration Efforts Underway

Field checking is underway.  Reports from the field include:

  • Initial estimate 45-65 broken distribution poles and 20 larger poles.
  • N Pana and Mattoon appear to be hard hit with storm damange.
  • Estimated restoration for Champaign and Effingham are later tonight.
  • Route 16 is closed between Windsor and Mattoon due to 8-10 poles down on the highway.
  • Hilsboro and Maryville areas are impacted.  Estimated restoration time are late tonight.
  • Mt Vernon and Centrailia also impacted.  Storm is continuing to push through.  Field assessments will continue as the storm passes.

Operations at Red Alert: 

In order to coordinate Ameren Illinois resources the Emergency Operations Center was activated, effective at 16:30 on August 16, 2012. 

Storm Safety:

Remember to be safe. Stay away from downed power lines.  Report immediately to Ameren Illinois at 1.800.755.5000.
