Storms Appoaching Southern Illinois
Weather Update:
The threat for scattered strong-to-severe storms today is focused on areas of the Illinois south of I-70 and east of I-57 from 14:00-21:00. Heavy downpours may be accompanied by gusty winds 50-60 mph, sizable hail and medium to high amounts of lightning. Other areas of the state may well see storm activity of lesser severity this afternoon and evening, as well.
Operations at Yellow Alert:
In order to respond as quickly as possible to abnormal operating conditions that may occur due to developing and forecasted severe weather, the Ameren Illinois Emergency Operations Center is declaring the Ameren Illinois organization at YELLOW Weather Alert status at 07:15 on August 9, 2012. The yellow weather alert status will remain in effect until conditions improve.
