05/04/12 - 14:30 Continued Threat for Severe Weather

Operations Continue on Yellow Alert

Weather Update:

The current outlook for thunderstorms across Illinois calls for scattered thunderstorms to develop along a front draped from near Dubuque to Kankakee. This will be the primary focus for development, but there is already one multi-cell thunderstorm on-going in southern IL. All but that northeast section will be at risk of strong to severe storms. This activity will have the potential to become organized into multi-storm clusters in the evening. The main threat will likely be large hail and damaging winds up to 55-60mph. As the storms become more organized the threat for damaging wind will increase. The time frame for the highest chance for severe weather will be 7pm to 1am. The thunderstorm that is already up and running will continue east-southeast and may increase in intensity as it does.
