06/10/2011 - 13:07 - Ameren Illinois Operations at Heightened State of Readiness
Strong Storms Possible
Ameren Illinois is in a heightened state of readiness due to a significant threat of severe storms developing across central of Illinois today and through tonight.
The best chances for any severe storms will be in the vicinity of the frontal boundary between the I-80 and I-70 corridors, starting about 3-5 PM and continuing through around 9-10 PM. Wind gusts of 55-65 mph will be the primary threat, along with frequent lightning and some large hail. The frontal boundary will shift over far southern Illinois tomorrow and some thunderstorms are expected to redevelop during the afternoon around the Marion/Carbondale area. However, severe storms are generally not expected for tomorrow
